Limited Capacity seats available

No matter how much a destination changes and evolves, there’s only so much service and “Wish you were here!” writing you can do about a geographical beat. In this session, we’ll talk about why a geographical specialty is important; how to broaden your understanding about the types of writing and reporting you can do about a place; and how to sharpen your skills of observation to be able to identify story ideas, report them responsibly, and pitch them to a variety of outlets.

Workshop attendees will also receive the following:

  • Essential reading and social media list (examples of writers/journalists who do this kind of work and the pieces they produce)

  • List of funding sources

  • List of outlets that commission place-based journalism
