Monica Drake is the editor of the Travel section of the New York Times, overseeing the weekly print section, the digital report and directing its digital and mobile initiatives. Before running Travel, Monica was the deputy of the section, in charge of several recurring print features and its blog. Monica is a veteran editor at the New York Times, having served as an assistant editor for Arts & Leisure and Weekend Arts desks and as a staff editor handling breaking news on the Metro desk. In between those stints, Monica acquired a wanderlust that was only heightened after working for nearly a year in the offices of the International Herald Tribune in Paris. Monica began her career in journalism after graduating from Yale University and from Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. She currently resides in Brooklyn with her husband and daughter.
