Cindy VandenBosch has 15 years of experience in the museum, tourism, and disability fields, and has always loved building bridges between people of diverse backgrounds through storytelling and place-based experiences. She is president of Turnstile Tours, one of New York State’s first benefit corporations and a Certified B Corporation that works with community and industry partners to support, create, and operate unique, interactive, and rigorously researched tours and programs that elevate public awareness about the meaning of place and community. Cindy has worked with cultural institutions and community organizations in the U.S., Russia, and Singapore to foster more inclusive, accessible, and engaging place-based experiences for people of diverse backgrounds and abilities, and is a board member of Travel Unity, a nonprofit dedicated to inclusivity in the travel and tourism industry. Cindy is originally from just outside Flint, Michigan and has an undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Russian and East European Studies from the University of Michigan. Before moving to New York, she worked for an international development organization in Russia’s Far East. In her spare time, Cindy loves playing with her dog Salty in Prospect Park, learning American Sign Language, and going to the Russian Banya with her husband Andrew.
